One Book One Philadelphia: The Soloist
The 2009 pick for OBOP is The Soloist, former Inky writer Steve Lopez’s story of Nathaniel Ayers, a gifted musician living on the streets of L.A. To borrow a copy, visit Metro’s 19th Street, Chestnut Hill or University City locations. We’ll also discuss the book—-and the issue of homelessness in our city—-at our Chestnut Hill shop on March 19 at 7:30pm and at Univ. City on March 26 at 7:30pm. Project H.O.M.E. is also running discussions on Feb 12 at 7pm, Feb 18 at 4:30pm and March 14 at 10am at their HQs at 1515 Fairmont.
And don’t forget an easy—-and delicious—-way to help end homelessness is to support the H.O.M.E. Page Cafe in the Free Library, staffed by formerly homeless teens and adults. Grab coffee, a sandwich or a pastry while you stock up on some winter reading!
